Ledgard Jepson

EH handbook

English Heritage handbook

English Heritage are a public funded agency whose role is to protect and promote England's spectacular historic environment and ensure that its past is researched and understood.

We have been preferred national creative supplier to English Heritage for four years designing several key publications and branding their Tea Rooms across many major sites in the UK.

Within the contract we were fortunate to have the opportunity to pitch for the design and produce their 290 page Members' Handbook, which we won in 2006.

The four year contract has seen Ledgard Jepson working closely with the membership team to image research, colour correction and retouching, liaison with writers, cartographers, historians and nine regional editors as well as refreshing the design each year to EH guidelines and producing artwork to exacting specification. Finally, the handbook is press passed ensuring that the 380,000 copies look as good as possible.

As part of our commitment to the contract, our web te am built a bespoke online proofing system that is used at every stage of the process. It allows all regions across the UK access to the latest proof remotely, comment, amend and upload new pictures. The system has not only made the production of the handbook more efficient, but it has saved hundreds of pounds each year on colour proofs and postage.

We are proud to announce that in December 2009 we successfully won the contract for another three years. What we wont know about castles after that wont be worth knowing!
