UK COAL is Britain's biggest coal producer, with substantial land and property interests. It develops and regenerates brownfield sites, manages business parks on former mine sites and oversees a substantial agricultural land and buildings portfolio. One of its sites is the former Park Road Prince of Wales Colliery at Pontefract, West Yorkshire, which it plans to develop into a mixed-use site including residential and employment development.
We were given a double-edged brief: firstly, to design a fitting brand for a project of this calibre, and secondly to design and build a website which would also provide public information about how the area might be developed, including the former pit yard and spoil heap. The website also had to be a central resource for planning and event- and community-related information.
We created a website which dovetailed perfectly with the overall brand and its market positioning. Community participation and engagement are important facets of the project, so keeping the public and other stakeholders involved was the underlying principle behind this easy-to-navigate site. We included a ‘community consultation’ area so that local people could ask any questions of the developers. Since Ledgard Jepson can host the websites we build, we can ensure that the Prince of Wales benefits from the highest standards of protection and maintenance.
And to help the client team update the site with a range of important information throughout the project lifecycle, we developed a database-driven website with a bespoke content management system.
The National Health Service in Yorkshire and the Humber has become the latest high profile client for Ledgard Jepson.
