Founded in Wakefield in 1988, Spawforths is a major independent planning consultancy comprising three main areas of expertise—planning, architecture and urbanism. A firm of town planners, urbanists and architects with over 50 staff, they help develop sustainable, high-quality, people-focused places and buildings through stakeholder collaboration, design and implementation. They specialise in planning applications, appeals and development plan representations; masterplans and development frameworks for developers and community groups; and designing creative sustainable buildings.
Spawforths needed a complete overhaul of their company’s visual identity, which would appeal to their clients, staff and stakeholders. They wanted to represent the three areas of their business (urbanism, architecture, and planning) as well as reflecting their strategy for growth and their company values: openness, warmth, responsiveness and loyalty.
Spawforths is a people-driven company which values the views of their core team. We interviewed that team in a group environment and used our findings to develop a brand which reflects their humanity and their focus on the environment. We stayed away from sharp angles and glass buildings with shiny windows, keeping true instead to the organic principles and growth which have built the company. Wherever possible we used only natural backgrounds, reflecting sustainability and a balance of economic, environmental and social considerations.
Our relationship with Spawforths continues to flourish and to take us into new and exciting areas of delivery. “Ledgard Jepson truly captured the essence of our company.
