CECA needed an identity which spoke to academics, yet symbolised collaboration and provided an authoritative voice in their industry.

The Company

A collaboration between the universities of Loughborough, Nottingham and Sheffield, CECA helps UK manufacturers to improve their global competitiveness by using the latest technology to develop cutting-edge assembly techniques. CECA is an industry-driven organisation which promotes the adoption of new technologies to reduce assembly times and costs, whilst improving quality and productivity. It helps companies to move up the value-added chain to more knowledge-intensive, high-skilled manufacturing, promoting new manufacturing practices that contribute to long-term sustainability.

The Brief

We were asked to develop an identity which would appeal to blue-chip manufacturers, educational institutions and regional SMEs, raising awareness of the facility, developing industry collaboration and providing an authoritative voice in the industry. The brand identity needed to be executed across a number of online and offline media, promote both the facility and events throughout the year.

Our Solution

Our identity for CECA uses an intersecting triangle where all three units are joined together to become one voice for the organisation. The symbol uses primary colours and minimal backgrounds to reinforce the intellectual nature of the facility.
